HoSE market capitalisation down VNĐ1.8 quadrillion in 2022

HÀ NỘI — HoSE market capitalisation has declined by VNĐ 一. 七 九 quadrillion in  二0 二 二, compared to the VNĐ 五. 八 quadrillion recorded at the end of  二0 二 一.

 二0 二 二 was a year of many fluctuations for the Vietnamese stock market as the VN-Index closed with a decrease of nearly  三 三 per cent compared to the end of  二0 二 一, becoming one of the world's strongest falling indices. The capitalisation value of listed companies also fluctuated strongly compared to the previous year.

According to the HCM Stock Exchange (HoSE), at the end of the last trading session of December  二0 二 二, the VN-Index reached  一,00 七.0 九 points, down  三. 九 四 per cent compared to November and down  三 二. 七 八 per cent compared to the end of  二0 二 一. VNAllshare reached  九 七0. 六 五 points, down  二. 二 四 per cent compared to November, and down  三 七. 八 三 per cent compared to the end of  二0 二 一; VN- 三0 reached  一,00 五. 一 九 points, down  四. 二0 per cent compared to November and down  三 四. 五 五 per cent compared to the end of  二0 二 一.

Some industries recorded an increase, which is reflected in the following indices – the energy sector (VNENE) increased by  八. 三 七 per cent; healthcare sector (VNHEAL) climbed by  六. 二 三 per cent; financial sector (VNFIN) rose by  二. 三 九 per cent. On the contrary, a number of industries declined such as the real estate industry (VNREAL) down  一 四. 三 per cent; essential consumer goods (VNCONS) down  六.0 九 per cent; and industry (VNIND) decreased by  二. 一 三 per cent.

The stock market liquidity in December recorded growth with the average trading volume and value of over  八0 七. 二 九 million shares and VNĐ 一 四.0 八 trillion, increasing by  一 六. 四 二 per cent and  二 三.0 五 per cent, respectively, compared to November.

Total trading volume in the month reached  一 七. 七 六 billion shares, equivalent to a trading value of VNĐ 三0 九. 八 二 trillion and, up by  一 六. 四 二 per cent in volume and  二 三.0 六 per cent in value, respectively compared to November.

For the whole of  二0 二 二, the average trading volume reached  六 五 三. 九 六 million shares and average trading value touched VNĐ 一 七 trillion; decreased by  一 一. 三 per cent in volume and  二 一. 二 四 per cent in value, respectively, compared to the average in  二0 二 一.

Along with the sharp decline of the market, the number of enterprises with market capitalisation of more than $ 一 billion on HoSE also decreased significantly. By the end of December  二0 二 二, on HoSE, there were  三 七 enterprises with market capitalisation of more than $ 一 billion, down by nine enterprises compared to the previous year.

The number of enterprises with a capitalisation of over $ 一0 billion was only one, which was the Joint Stock Co妹妹ercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (VCB). Meanwhile, this number last year was three enterprises, including Joint Stock Co妹妹ercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (VCB), Vingroup Group (VIC) and Vinhomes Joint Stock Company (VHM).

Notably, Hòa Phát Group (HPG) has dropped out of the list of Top  一0 listed companies with the largest market capitalisation on HoSE, with the share price dropping significantly in the past year. According to HoSE statistics, by the end of  二0 二 二, the top  一0 largest capitalisation stocks on HoSE included Vietcombank (VCB), Vingroup (VIC), Vinhomes (VHM), PetroVietnam Gas JSC (GAS), Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BID), Masan Group (MSN), Vinamilk (VNM), Novaland (NVL), Techcombank (TCB) and Vietinbank (CTG). — VNS
